True Blood Fang Friday Episode Speculations

Hopefully fans have recovered from their True Blood fangover to enjoy the new episode “Cold Grey Light of Dawn”. The new episode trailers are teasing fans as to what they might see including a new initiation for Alcide and Debbie and Jason offering Hoyt advice. (poor Hoyt). UPDATE: Boston Herald gave fans new SPOILERS LINK HERE:

In the last episode we saw the powerful witch Antonia being burned at the stake. We also learned why she hates the vampires so much. It was at their fangs she was tortured, raped and sentenced to die. (the vampire priests were probably protected by the church). As she was burning, we could hear her cast out a chant in Latin.

Her fellow “witches” held prisoner in the church dungeon could also be heard joining in on the chant. The chant was a spell that cast out the sleeping vampires to walk into the daylight..

This is what I believe is being said in the chant:

E veru ex pere en cris tuus  ex pere mori.

flama vere  pere escapa  pere tuus spiri tuus , mori,  flama vere pere escapa,  pere  tuus mori spiri tuus ca pere

Behold, I am gone to die from the stake of thy Christ.

Truly I am gone your spirit,  your flame  I am gone, to die escape. (this is repeated)  A huge thanks to Mj from FB who found the translation (the closed captioning on her tv translated the chant):
“Hellspawn demon, creature of death. Fire shall take your very breath.”  this was repeated over and over.

As much sense as it can make but it sounds like her chant called out the vampire’s “magic/spirit” what makes them sleep during the day to leave (to escape) and to die. The vampires are seen waking into the daylight and burning up:

The priest in the front is Luis’ maker and the others are fellow vampire priests and nuns. They burn up in the daylight:

From the episode summary and also from the trailer for episode 4.07 “Cold Grey Light of Dawn” we know this

With Marnie empowered by spirits of the dead, Bill issues an unpopular order to save vampires from the light.

Since MarniA now knows the “spell” and is also a necromancer it makes sense that she will peform the incantation in another prayer circle. The preview trailer showed a vampire walking in the sun and yes burning up. Link here:  King Bill will have to issue an edict that the vampires will need to be chained in silver to keep them from walking into the daylight. This post showed various screencaps from the preview trailer showing Bill, Eric and Nan chained up.

Jessica is also at risk of walking into the sun and was shown in the trailer opening the door during daylight.

Either King Bill has her at his home to protect her or she is having issues with Hoyt.  It does seems that she will be cast out of Hoyt’s home perhaps (due to jealousy over Jason) and may not have had time to be “chained up”. Never fear it looks like Jason might try to save her since he is shown tackling one of King Bill’s guards. Waiting for the new episode still really sucks!

True Blood Skipping Down the Hidey Hole

Does anyone else think that the hidey hole that Eric Northman built looks a lot like the holding cells that King Bill has at his home?

Yes I know it is just cinderblock a common building material (ok and fire proof). Another similarity I noticed was in the screen cap below that shows King Bill with Marnie-notice the walls and even some of the lights. The scenes are lit differently so they cast a different hue.

Added the following cap from the Alan Ball intro video. It shows Marnie in the “holding cell” above . I do believe we have a snippet of Marnie “controlling” a vampire:

This cap from the newer promo with Sookie showing Eric where his hidey hole is shows the walls are very similar. Of course it all could be just a coincidence.

We will find out soon enough during the season. It would be very interesting if King Bill would have some type of underground tunnels that go from his home to Sookie (ok it belongs to Eric now). We did see Bill dig himself underground to stay safe during the day in prior seasons so who knows.

015The other item I wondered about was why did Sookie reveal Eric’s hidey hole to Tara who was visiting Sookie. That is a huge no-no to reveal a vampires resting place. Especially to Tara who is shown later trying to Stake Eric. Luckily it does look like the hidey hole has locks from the inside.

Alan Ball has started off the season running and fans have been all a tizzy with the new episodes and yes even more spoilers. Waiting sure has sucked but it was well worth the while.

If you Love Me Why Am I Dyin’ Promo Screen Caps

Waiting will really suck for the True Blood fans who could not wait until Sunday to watch the second new episode of the season. A promo video trailer was shown for episode 4.03 “If You Love Me, Why am I Dyin” on HBO Go and now we have to wait until 7/10/11 to watch that episode! The images in the gallery below are from the video trailer. SPOILER ALERT WARNING!

To be honest a lot of the footage has already been shown in snippets during the teaser time in the “Waiting Sucks” videos and in some of the other trailers. That does not make it any less exciting for me to see again! We get to see where Eric goes after visiting the Moon and Goddess store.

We also finally get to see Alcide. He is so happy to see Sookie he just picks her up off the ground! (well he is 6′ 5″ after all so when he goes in for a big hug Sookie gets lifted right up!)

Sheriff Andy does seem to be in for a bit of trouble this season with his new exotic “tastes” and is shown below sucking his finger. Oh Andy why!

Even Sam can’t seem to avoid getting hassled by Andy in the third installment!  Gun versus hand no winner there.

King Bill seems to be really enjoying his throne. (well they are in a chair below not sure if it is a throne or not)

Don’t be mislead by the sequence of the scenes shown in the new trailer. Alan Ball loves to trick fans into thinking what is happening when there are some scenes out of order. I’m almost sure that the action shown in the video trailer are almost shown backward. I mean not in backward motion but what is last is shown first in the video so when you look at the images in the gallery below they will proabably be in that order.

We see Eric outside of Sookie’s car and I’m positive that is where we start out for episode 3. There is a bit of a chase (Sookie is shown running away since she probably gets out the car via the passenger side-it looked like Eric trying to get into her car at the end of episode 4.02) Eric had been sniffing the air around her since she smelled so good. (she smelled like dinner to him) You can see Eric running at vamp speed in the image above.

Guess who is faster duh-Eric:

He is standing in front of Sookie (and we have already seen in the promos what she does next to his nose)

Fans will also learn how upset the wiccans are with Eric’s treatment of Marnie. Lafayette though is very worried since he has been a guest in the dungeon at Fangtasia and does not wish to take up residence again. Looks like we see the action where Pam is throwing someone back down there!

Yes waiting sucks but having these fun new images to guess away the action makes the pain a bit less.

True Blood Season 4 Premiere Faeries, Vampires, Shifters and Witches Oy!

TBS4.01 She's not there

True Blood season 4 premiere will finally air on HBO tonight. Fans have been waiting for the new season to finally start the second that season 3 ended last September. The highly addictive and fangtastic show will suck fans back into the world of Sookie Stackhouse and the many many characters in the world that is True Blood.

In the season 3 finale we see Sookie poof away and disappear with Claudine. The new season picks up right where we left off. She and Claudine are in that ball of orange light (that I grew to not like at all) and appear in FaeLand. The first 8 minutes of this part have already been shown by HBO .

True Blood fans may have a hard time sitting through this first sequence of action for the season premiere. It is not one of my most favorite scenes ever to appear on the show for me as a fan. The lighting and dialogue was just too cheesy. However let me add that having seen it in the smaller version on HBO Go and then again on a larger screen I did enjoy it with the larger screen. Please be patient and yes sit through this segment again where it leads is well worth the cheese.

The imagery of Sookie and her grandpa Earl standing on the edge of the FaeLand portal brought to mind how Sookie is also at a crossroad in her life. Having just learned of Bill’s true purpose in Bon Temps has left her raw emotionally.

Taking that jump into the portal was not a choice she made on her own. Earl seemed to have to grab her and jump in with her even though it meant a high cost for him. Earl did eat of the light fruit and was not allowed to enter the portal but did not want his grand daughter to stay in danger. Sookie is a strong woman but we have not seen a lot of that in the show yet. Season 4 does give me hope that Sookie will grow into her inner strength as an independent woman.

Yes we see where she and Earl land and it is the Bon Temps cemetery which seems to be the portal between the FaeLand and the human realm.  Sookie finds her familiar surroundings looking quite different and learns of how fast time does fly by while in FaeLand. As her friends and family discover she is safe and sound she is facing a lot of questions that really do not have a logical answer but it all does work out when we see the action in the show. (trust me on this one even though it was a bit rough around the edges and rushed to me)

She learns that while some of her friends and family “gave up” on her a surprising someone did not. Not spoiling the who did not give up yet. Even her old job at Merlottes is different now so yes Sookie is facing a new way of life.

The theme for season 4 of True Blood is the issue of identity. The characters of True Blood have a myriad of identity issues. No two on the show are alike. Yes we have vampires but no two seem to have the same characteristics that make them who they are on the show. They can be ruthless killers in one scene and a loving undead being in the next frame.

Baby vamp Jessica is still growing into her “fangs” while also learning the day to day reality of living romantically with a human Hoyt (and I love this story line). The promo showing Jessica and Hoyt getting into a bit of a squabble does show that there is a little tension in the romance. Even vampire Pam tells Jessica “you’re a hunter”! Jessica is learning just what it is to be a vampire and have other “needs” that Hoyt is not filling at the moment.

Scenes of Jessica dancing at Fangtasia show her as a young woman testing the boundaries of her new found sexuality and yes also her appetite as a vampire. One of the best moments in the premiere for me was the scene where the hot guy watching Jess dance and is very much interested in her but is interuppted by Hoyt. He gives his lady a drink of Tru Blood but Jessica is in the mood for a different taste. She goes into the ladies room to dispose of the synthetic blood when Pam walks in.

TBS4.01 She's not Ther

Pam says to her “bathrooms are for humans, do I need to explain why?”. Snarky Pam is back fans. Rather than berate Jessica for being only with Hoyt she does remind her that yes she is a hunter and will have those “needs”. “The way you’re eyef-cking fangbangers from across the room is especially romantic”. Jess defends her life with Hoyt.

Another great Pam moment involved her trying to record a PSA for the AVL. Post Russell life for vampires meant a lot of public relations for the AVL. Pam is really not “feeling” the role. She is more deadpan than ever.

A flat lifeless (even for an undead) performance frustrates Nan when in walks Eric Northman. Eric records the PSA perfectly and this is the footage we have seen in the promos where he says “we love to serve humans at Fangtasia but not for dinner.”

In the one hour show, fan will get to see a lot of the characters on True Blood. Yes the show does not feature just a set number of main characters. Sometimes this glut of cast does weigh down the action in the show.  The cast is amazing don’t get me wrong. I loved having so much more King Russell last season. I trust Alan Ball to once again “deliver” and give us his version of True Blood.

The first episode was not frenetic but it did seem like they were trying to lure us back in with little tid bits of each of the characters. Yes we see Bill Compton, Eric Northman and other vampires. The shape shifters are still in the “house” as well when it comes to True Blood.

A new group of supernatural beings this season are the witches. Not new news here but the way they show the group meeting was interesting. Lafayette has learned to deal with some of his natural abilities much to the insistance of his lover Jesus. The funniest moments of course this episode involved Lafayette! His delivery is spot on. Even he is surprised by his own powers and yes it was great to see Fiona Shaw as Marnie. She surpassed what I had expected of the character. Looking forward to seeing what she shows fans this season.

I tried to write this without too many spoilers. Honestly this season has been one of the most “spoiler heavy” ones ever! So many promos, videos, photos and even filming have given me a lot of clues into just what is ahead for fans. I don’t want to ruin all the season for fans. There will be a few mis-steps I fear but I stay hopeful that this will be a great season for us to enjoy. I know I have been waiting for season 4 since season 1 and have hopes that Eric’s character will finally be given the chance to really show his true mettle. He does show us even more surprises are in store for his character on the show.

Bill Compton will also prove to show there is more there than what fans may have believed there to be. Some questions will be answered but not all of them will be satisfied in the premiere. I know I was criticized before by saying there may be a chance that Bill is still out for revenge against Eric. I still stand by that. Bill loves Sookie and will stand by that devotion no matter what. Of course he will want to eliminate a rival!

There are a few characters that are not shown in the season premiere but not many are missing. Alcide will have a larger role in this season but did not make an appearance in 4.01. There are also a few new characters introduced (only briefly) in the first show of the new season.

Jason Stackhouse does show a bit more maturity this season. He has been “tending” to his wards at Hotshot. For a former romeo having to tend to kids and adults who don’t seem very much able to care for themselves was quite amusing to watch.

Alan Ball again will have fans frothing at the “fangs” with the new season action. Not all fans will be “happy” perhaps if they are unable to allow their perception of different characters evolve. The whole “team” mentality that seems to permeate the fandom does drive me insane. And I’m the biggest one to proudly say which team I favor (ok Team Alex…)  I’ve never been subtle in my admiration for the Viking Vampire but I really try not to elevate one character over another just because that is how I want it to be on the show. Hopefully Alan Ball will be able to get past his devotion to the characters he prefers and will allow the others to also shine.  This season is one of the ones I do feel the most hopeful about. Last season I felt very similarly but also did have some episodes where I could not figure out just what the hell happened.

One worry I do have are all the characters and having so many plot lines. Sookie is still the heart of the story for me and I hope we do get to see strong Sookie this season.

Waiting sucks but in a few hours the WAIT WILL BE OVER. Believe me when I say this “IT WAS DEFINITELY WORTH THE WAIT”.  Oh and the episode ends on even a bigger question than ever! Yes fans the fun will soon be here!

True Blood Season 3 Cliffhangers Videos

True Blood fans have been wating for the new season to finally start up on 6/26/11. HBO posted the following Season 3 cliffhangers as a way for fans to “whet” their appetites. Waiting Sucks but the new season is almost here! Here are three of the videos from the HBO playlist of cliffhangers:

The Fourth True Blood Star to attend Dragon Con is Kristin Bauer

Kristin Bauer joins Jim Parrack, Denis O’Hare, Joe Manganiello and Charlaine Harris for this year’s Dragon Con. For full article click on link below:

EW Spoilers for True Blood Season 4: Eric, Bill and Jason!

Entertainment Weekly is giving us some new spoilers for Season 4:

Hi. I am a HUGE fan of True Blood. I know this season is primarily about Sookie/Eric, but this Bill fan wants to know if the former couple will have any decent scenes together as well? Will Bill be pursuing Sookie or is he too busy with his new power position? — CK

I know you’ve seen the first eight minutes, but the next eight will definitely answer your question about whether Bill cares or not. That said, Bill’s storyline is sometimes very twisted, but mostly just full of twists.

I’m gonna be selfish here by not asking for couple news. All I want is Eric! If not Eric, Alcide will do. Have your pick, thanks. — Shaden

Eric is constantly underestimated, and he’ll prove that in the first episode when he comes into possession of something extremely valuable. Also, episode 2 has some pretty great Eric moments, especially the last scene.

Let’s get some scoop on Jason, please! Bill, Sookie, Eric — love ‘em all. But haven’t heard a thing about Jason! — Gloria

Ryan Kwanten has talked about some dark and disturbing scenes that are in Jason’s future, and he was right on point. One scene in episode 2 might even require eye covering if you’re squeamish.

New Eric Northman Season 4 Photo

True Blood fans have been counting down the days for the new season to start up on June 26, 2011! A new photo has been spotted showing Eric Northman and Sookie Stackhouse! I do believe we are seeing a glimpse into what fans will see in season 4. (Alexander Skarsgard even said at PaleyFest that Eric “does not know who he is”) Oh can’t wait to see this on the show.

UPDATE:  Alexander Skargard is wearing the same shirt he had on in the “Invitation to the Set” video promo. Hmm could this possibly be some of the “borrowed/purchased” clothing fans have read in the books? Eric does appear to be in the “Protect Sookie” mode in this photo. (the body language- his right arm is across Sookie slightly). Could he be keeping her from harms way? Love the dress Anna/Sookie is wearing in this.

Also spotted some empty “Tru Blood” bottles behind them on the table. (plus some yogurt ones?) Can’t wait!

True Blood Season 4 Main Street Mayhem Musings

Last week I heard that True Blood was going to be filming on location for episode 4.11. I could not resist the temptation to see some of my favorite vampires on Main Street. Just a guess that they would be filming vampire scenes but a night time shoot usually means vampires. SPOILER WARNING> yes the images may spoil the action for fans so don’t peek if you don’t want spoiling. (I’ve not included the big spoiler photos since I truly don’t want to ruin it for fans )

Filming on location means a lot of set up required and HBO brings out a crew with a base-camp where they are able to set up the trailers that house the costumes, gear, electrical equipment and all the behind the scenes items to create the on screen magic. On the walk back to my car the first night I spotted the catering trailers that had all the food items for the cast. (yes they play vampires but when it is cold outside the humans need coffee!)

The scenes are planned out so in the beginning fans were able to see the cast rehearsing the lines, set up as to where they stand etc in order to have the proper shot. Stand ins normally do just that-they stand in for the cast. Alex’s stand in was nice and smiled a lot at the growing crowd. He was also really great with the fans and would chat with them when it was possible. Since it is a “live set” there were times when silence was required (ie no photos, no video , no talking or it would interfere with the shot)

Alex's stand in is on the left above. (Alexander S. can be seen a little further to the right

Another stand in is shown below:

Deborah Woll on the left. Stand-in is on the far right (not her stand in..)

The first night of filming that I watched primarily involved the building that is the “Moon and Goddess Emporium” for season 4. In real life this location is a year round Halloween store. The signs outside are changed for the name and cranes were in place for one of the cast to be “flying”. We saw the who I believe to be Annie Fitzgerald who plays a new character “Kirsch” in a harness and the crane is used to have her “fly”. She also seemed to stop in mid air (perhaps a certain witch casts a spell to stop her mid air? )

Annie Fitgerald preparing for the "harness" and the upcoming scene

Mid air shot. The harness would have a rebound action that I was able to catch in this shot:

The action on the first night I watched involved Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman), Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam), Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton), Deborah Woll (Jessica Hamby) and Annie Fitzgerald (Kirsch). There were others on site but don’t want to be too spoilery.

I’m guessing that another vampire met the true death prior to this action since I did see some vamp-goo-mains on the ground below:

I will write up a bit more of the action that is spoiler in nature closer to when this episode is due to air. Truly do not wish to spoil it for the fans and also for the cast and crew who worked really hard to film the action for us.

Some of my observations-nothing major or new but Pam and Eric really seem to have an amazing child and maker relationship on the show and it was fun to seem Kristin and Alexander smiling and having fun in real life.

Filming went on till 5 am the night before and also till almost 6 am that night. Many fans were able to get their photos with some of the cast by being patient and respectful and waiting till the time was ok for the cast to be able to walk over and snap a photo. I only stayed till around 1 am the first night since I had to get my son to school the next morning.

The second night I watched filming the set seemed to be action that continues from the prior night. Fire crews were on site and a huge truck with flammable liquid was on set as well. There was a lot of smoke and special effects that make sense considering the episode title for 4.11 is “Soul of Fire”.

The cast member on the ground above (shown with a crew person) was quite a character. During the down time, the cast person would throw some of the debris on the ground at some of the others. They kept missing their target. However if the target turned around to see where the noise would come from, the jokester would lay flat on the ground with a “what? wasn’t me” look. Even with working long hours, lack of sleep and the cold  the cast of True Blood still had a lot of fun. They do seem to get along very well with each other.

It was fun to see Deborah Woll do her scenes and have to wait for the makeup person “fang” her up. On screen we see the final magic but in real life it does take a bit of doing.

On location filming does involve a lot of set up, rehearsal , waiting around and re-takes. A huge thank you from me to the cast  and to HBO crew for allowing fans to be present to watch the real life action before we see the final “magic on screen”. As long as fans continue to be respectful of their policies on no filming or shooting during the live filming we should have a chance again in the future to watch filming. I know there have been a lot of leaked videos and photos. Not all fans present were filming during the shooting part. Most of the ones I have seen were the “good guys”. I won’t post links to the ones that are definitely the big no-no ones.

Mikethefanguy did a great write up of his experience during the filming and he was very respectful. Here is the link and he has a lot of great photos with the cast. (he also stayed till the wee hours of the morning). Two of my friends also went back on Friday night and got super lucky and amazing photos with Alexander Skargard! I’m so happy for them and all the fans that were able to snap their photo with Alex. He is really a nice guy and truly does appreciate all his fans.

dsc_0215Waiting sucks but at least the season 4 premiere is ALMOST HERE! Here is a gallery of images I took during the rehearsals:

True Blood Season 4 Premiere Episode Screen Caps Fae War?

The new sneek peek into the premiere episode for True Blood’s season 4 was just shown on HBOGo. Looks like we finally get to meet “Claude”. When we last saw Sookie and her grandpa Earl they were getting ready to RUN! This video shows us what happens next.

Queen Mab is not too pleased with Miss Stackhouse and orders the others to get them. Lots of flying balls of light (from the Fae) are thrown trying to capture Sookie and her g-pa. Lo and behold another Fae is there to help out.

Looks like perhaps Claudine coming to their help

The images below are from the latter part of the video (the newer action). I have not heard the audio yet so don’t know exactly what is going on but you can pretty much tell that Sookie and Earl make the leap hopefully back to Bon Temps. It does look like there may be a start to a war between the Fae. You can see how Sookie was helped out by Claude and Claudine and perhaps their fellow Fae Clan.

Waiting does SUCK!

True Blood Season 4 Episode 4.01 Eight Minute Preview Video

s4p2163Another preview for the True Blood season 4 premiere was shown and this one is almost eight minutes. Video below:
