True Blood has been busy filming for their fifth season. Recently the show was filming on location at a site which is historic. The building was built in the 1800′s and has been used in several commercials and other shows. Click on read more for the gallery of images of the exterior of the building where filming was held:
The building used for filming is a seven story Moorish Colonial and Spanish style building. The building once was a hotel and it opened in 1899.
What will this be showing us in season 5? The building has both Moor and Spanish influence in it’s architecture. Could this be the site of Salome’s home? She is listed as a very old vampire. Perhaps a child of King Russell?
The casting call for episode 5.02 calls for a scene set in 1905. This building is old enough for those interior shots. There is a fountain at the park across the street that was bult in 1905 (coincidence?). The filming was mostly late at night due to the scenes. Vampires can not be outside during the day. (or they go all crispy critter). Will we see some of the Authority perhaps at this location? The casting call for episode 5.03 “Whatever I am, You Made Me”, calls for the Authority vampires holding some prisoners. Waiting sucks but at least the season is in filming mode.

Thanks Leif! yah I got that vibe when I saw the location. It really has a large ballroom inside and lots of “Victorian” rooms and yes there is also a Moor influence so I can so see The Authority being here. I also thought of Salome. This is a beautiful location. I actually toured this building when I visited my son in California. It is even more awesome than these pictures indicate.

Just who were the vampires’ seen filming at this location?
From someone else who was there during filming it sounded like “Eric” was seen there. (a tall blonde…sounds a lot like Alex). The person did not know the names of the cast but when I asked if he saw a tall blonde he did seem to remember one. Wish I had known about it earlier but alas…too late!! UGH!! thanks for the visit! If I found out anything else I’ll post!

it looks like an egyptian palace
Oh great he follows the book closer when he is doing one of the books that wasn’t that good. There was too much werewolf stuff in book 5. The #1 wolf in TB is robotic, wooden, stiff, and completely uninteresting. Looks like I’ll be in the kitchen through most of the show.
Ahh yes I did not love that book at all! UGH…I did hear also that they used wolves when they filmed last month (at the ranch that they use). So I’m sure we will see werewolves in the early episodes.

That’s what I keep thinking as well! Yes it really could look very much like the one for the flashback. Plus they built a set at the studios and filmed on Friday night (right after this filming). So yes it sure could be !! Waiting sucks.
