The upcoming episode summary for True Blood : Cold Grey Light of Dawn gives a few clues into what fans may see this Sunday. Here are a few of my “speculations” based on the spoiler images from the preview trailer. SPOILER ALERT
Episode #43 (#4.07): “Cold Grey Light of Dawn”: With Marnie empowered by spirits of the dead, Bill issues an unpopular order to save vampires from the light. Eric embraces his amnesia; Luna discovers Sam’s not the man she thought he was; Lafayette expands his consciousness; Pam gets a body peel; Andy’s date with Holly doesn’t go as planned; Jessica has doubts about her future with Hoyt; Alcide and Debbie join a new pack
Marnie Empowered By Spirits:Bill Issues and Unpopular order
This one is not a tough one. In last episode we saw the powerful witch Antonia take over Marnie’s body. The flashback showed how the witch was able to chant a spell while burning at the stake that caused the sleeping vampires to be cast out into the sun. Well it looks like MarniA(marnie+Antonia) will be able to revive that spell and cause the vampires in Bon Temps to also go crispy critter.
We even see MarniA “fly” during a prayer session:
King Bill will have to order the vampires to be “chained in silver” to weaken them in order to keep them from walking out into the sun. Even Maxine a non-vampire fan seems to be shocked at what happens when a vampire walks in daylight: (a bit of comic relief when you see that the vampire looks like they were wearing hair curlers)
Eric is shown wearing heavy silver chains in the first image. Perhaps the chains had to be placed on the vampire before entering his daytime sleep. The second image shows him with the “bleeds” indicating he is awake during the daytime.
Even Nan Flanigan is shown wearing a silver type mesh veil:
Poor Luna. She seduces Sam or at least she thinks it was Sam only to find out it was really Tommy skin”Walking”. This one will end badly. Sam will probably be on the receiving end of a beatdown from Luna’s ex. (the Shreveport packmaster)
Pam’s Body Peel!
Dr. Ludwig is shown in the image above and it is great to see her back on the show! Looks like she will be the one to help Pam with her rotting condition. Can’t wait to see the beautiful Pam back again. more photos of the “body peel are found here”
Lafayette expands his consciousness
In the last episode we see Lafayette “swallow” the spirit of Jesus’ Uncle Luca. This enabled Lafayette to summon powers needed to heal Jesus from the bite of a rattlesnake. Calling upon the Santeria goddess Yemaya helped cure Jesus. Santeria is a syncretic religion which melded the Yoruba religion from Africa and Roman Catholicism. When slaves were brought to the Carribbean they could not practice their faith so it became a merging of the Catholicism found in the Carribbean islands with their home religion from Africa. The santeros would offer sacrifices to the statues of saints but gave them african names . Yemaya is considered to be the mother goddess of the ocean, the essence of motherhood and a protector of children. (the Roman Catholic saint name is Our Lady of Regla) It made sense that if it was Jesus’ uncle he would call upon her to help out Jesus. Not sure if Alan Ball will cover the “santeria” aspect of the magic on the show or if he will just keep it as we have seen it so far where there are “good witches” and “bad witches”. Jesus’ uncle perhaps was a practioner of white magic ie a “good brujo/witch” while Jesus’ father was an “evil” one.
Having the new “power” Lafayette perhaps is now also able to summon spirits much like Marnie. Jesus can be heard saying to Lafayette you have the power to summon/control the dead. Did “swallowing” the spirit of Jesus’ uncle Luca also open up Lafeyette’s magical power of necromancy?
We see Lafayette in the trailer in the kitchen of Merlottes and it seems that now he is able to see the ghost that baby Mikey saw after the fires (Screencap first one on this post). This is the actress cast for the character of “Mavis”.
[MAVIS] Female, African American, 20-30 years old. She is a sad-eyed girl dressed in a modest 1930s dress. RECURRING GUEST STAR. Must speak with a Cajun accent. Source:imdb (Screen cap shown above)
Perhaps Mavis was a relative of Lafayette’s? But it seems that she is the good ghost that helped baby Mikey escape the fire. (and is somehow attached to the creepy doll). There is also a casting call for the character of Virgil-
[VIRGIL] 35 years old, a harshly handsome blue collar Caucasian man with a cold and ruthless streak, Virgil is seen in a flashback to the 1930s. Guest star.
I think Virgil must have been the one causing Mavis a lot of pain or perhaps kills Mavis.(or her child-she seems to want to protect baby Mikey) Her ghost was not freed so it was attached somehow to the creepy doll. Maybe Lafayette since his powers have opened up is now able to see Mavis and somehow will protect baby Mikey. We also see Lafayette holding what looks like a baby in a sling in one of the other trailers shown.(who knows! this storyline is going all over the place)
King Bill Faces Gunfire?
In the preview trailer we see what appears to be someone entering King Bill’s office and shooting the King. No worries. He does not die the final death (since we see him in upcoming episodes as undead as always). This will probably Sheriff Luis under MarniA’s necromancy control. In the mayhem following the shooting MarniA escapes to cause further craziness upon the vampires. Guess King Bill is really regretting his decision to bother Marnie in the first place.
Alcide and Debbie join a new pack
Not a surprise here but in episode 4.06 Alcide and Debbie said they were on their way to the new pack “run” since it was a full moon. The screencap above might show the “initiation” ceremony welcoming Debbie into the new pack. Not sure if it is Debbie but something tells me she might fall off her sobriety wagon. The new packmaster does not seem trust worthy.
Waiting for the new episode does suck! Hopefully soon HBO will release some more fun trailers to keep us guessing.
