True Blood’s fourth season has finally arrived and many fans could not even wait a week for the second installment. The second episode was available on HBOGo and will air on Sunday 7/3/11. SPOILER WARNING-don’t look further if you don’t wish to be spoiled.

In this episode titled “You Smell Like Dinner” fans will see Marnie chanting in Latin. This specific spell was in response to have Eric Northman leave the Moon and Goddess (a type of banishment prayer) but it looks like the go more than they bargained for based on the effect it had on Eric. (wrote about this in an earlier post : Spellbound 4/19/11 on how this definitely looked like the part where Eric may be “spellbound”-also on post on speculations 4/26/11 found here:) fun to see just how some of the guesses are correct.

Even Marnie is shown going through a “transformation” herself:

UPDATE: For a split second we see another face instead of Marnie’s (cap shown above). This looks a lot like the wtich we see being “punished” in the upcoming trailer for episode 4.03:

The same woman can be seen praying in the 1600′s flash back scene:

Invitation to the Set promo (the woman to the right of the priest)
What is also interesting is how it almost appears that the woman has streaks of blood coming down her face (perhaps tears of blood?) The priest above will turn out to be quite interesting. Perhaps Eric Northman had a hand in the priest’s special traits? (prior screencaps show the priest has a little bit of a secret) And in turn the priest may have had a new convert only to have to punish her?
The actual spell is a version of the “Dismissio Jesuitarum” written out below under the video. The video shows the scene where Eric Northman confronts the witches (at the order of King Bill). The incantation is not word for word from the original Dismissio but is pretty close. Interesting that Alan Ball chose this as the “spell”. It was commonly used to banish/cast out demons.
Incantation:
Here is what Marnie chants in Latin: Jam tibi impero et præcipio maligne spiritus! ut confestim allata et circulo discedas, absque omni strepito, terrore, clamore et foetore, asque sine omni damno mei tam animæ quam corporis
Translated:
Now I command and charge you, O evil spirit! that you immediately depart from the circle abstaining from all noise, terror, tumult, and stench, and if you refuse I will damn you both in body and soul.
Waiting has sucked but it does look like the season is off to a good start. The previews for 4.03 show a lot of interesting action in store for Eric Northman.
